Captain America

I'm half convinced that when Hasbro released their Captain America figure in the 2016 Onslaught wave they left out scale-mail armor not because of laziness, but because they wanted me to customize it! OK, OK that's probably not the case but as soon as I saw the figure I knew I could apply my scale-mail armor technique to make the Cap figure everyone wants.

The recipe is, well, not much of one.  I just took the base Captain America and sculpted over the peg holes, added some wrinkles here and there, sculpted the chain-mail and stars on his upper torso and then gave him a total repaint. I've always been a huge fan of the Epting/Brubaker run of Cap so I also added some small pouches on his belt that attach via tiny magnets to capture his look during that run.
The straps that came with the figure were, uh, putting it nicely, super lame.  Using some elastic and scratch built belt buckles I made him some news ones that can also be tightened around his arm.

This was also the perfect opportunity try something I've been wanting to do forever, make my first "customizing kit", and share my work with the action figure community.  Thanks to CastingCave, together we were able to reproduce the upper torso and upper arms so that anyone who can crack a torso, can make their very own scaled Captain.  I hope to do more kits like this in the future.
